This morning about 9:30, I saw a Virginia Rail and her nine chicks strolling
down the shoulder of Eldon Station Rd. They were crossing the road to
another small wetland, bur remained on the road eating bugs or getting grit.
The young looked like little black fuzz balls a little larger than a fox
sparrow. They stayed on the road for some time until, I approached with the
car. I was concerned that a speeding car might surprise them.
The atlasser for this area might be interested in this posting.

When I returned at 4:30, I saw a very small weasel zip across the road not
far from the morning sighting.

Directions: Eldon Station Rd is a small east west road which joins Prospect
Rd. and Rockview Rd. a few km west of Kirkfield off Highway 46.
