A quick trip to Thickson's Woods late in the day [5-5:30 p.m.] yielded - 11
Red-eyed Vireos, 2 Yellow-bellied Flycatchers, 2 Chestnut-sided Warblers, 3
Magnolia Warbler's, one Black-throated Blue Warbler, on American Redstart
and two Grey-cheeked Thrushes, along with numerous Least Flycatchers.

Second Marsh had one Peregrine Falcon, one White-crowned Sparrow, numerous
duck species including Green-winged Teal and Hooded Merganser + one Piping
Plover, ~1000 Dunlin, ~250 Least Sandpiper, 6 Semi-palmated Sandpipers, 2
White-rumped Sandpipers, 3 Sanderlings, 8 Black-bellied Plovers, one Red
Knot, ~75 Semi-palmated Plovers, one Killdeer, and one Short-billed
Dowitcher!

Directions: Exit from the 401 at the Harmony Rd. Exit (419) in Oshawa. Go
south on Farewell St. to Colonel Sam Drive. Go east on Colonel Sam Drive to
the parking lot at the GM Headquarters. Park in the west parking lot close
to the marsh. The east platform is located here. To see the Lake Ontario
waterbirds proceed along the path from the parking lot south to the
lakeshore.

Exit 401 at Thickson Road. Thickson's Woods is located at the south end of
Thickson Road near the lake.
