Rondeau Daily Report May21/04

A selection of the late migrant warblers could be found throughout the park
today, but not many and not often. Highlight today were all aural instead. An
Empidonax grand slam, all five of these Flycatchers were heard singing! Most
unusual was the Yellow-bellied that sang steadily for 90 to 120 seconds on
Tulip Tree trail, but Acadian, Willow, Alder, and Least all gave at least a few
songs at some place in the park. Also the Chuck-Will’s-Widow was heard again
last night at dusk just south of the Visitor Centre. Several people were able
to hear it, though it was quiet by 10pm.

The Friends of Rondeau are sponsoring two guided hikes daily until May 23rd.
