For those of you familiar and fond of tropical birds, the name of Dr. Alexander Skutch, reknowned tropical ornithologist, has probably crossed your path. I have just heard that Dr. Skutch died yesterday, May 12th. His death occurred eight days before his 100th birthday. Dr. Skutch lived and studied tropical birds from his homestead in Costa Rica for more than 60 years, and up until about 4 years ago he was still writing and publishing books. His funeral will be held May 14th at the Los Cusingos Neotropical Birds Sanctuary, Costa Rica.
He will be sadly missed. Sandra Znajda Toronto Bird Observatory
