Hello ontbirders,

A leisurely walk around High Park this afternoon afforded me a look at probably the rarest bird I've seen at High Park yet. Strangely enough, I was on my way home through the north-west woods and came across a couple of very loquacious Chickadees. I decided to take a look at them and instead, got a Worm-Eating Warbler in my sight. Just an unbelievable look at it as it slowly moved through the trees accompanying the Chickadees. Unfortunately, a dogwalker had distracted me from it and I lost it, but had about a fifteen minute look. The directions are a bit obscure as it was in a pretty non-descript area. The furthest west inlet to the park is a small bike trail that steeps right down to the ravine. About 300 feet along that ravine; you'll find the hill meets the path. That's where it was. The chickadees will likely give away its location as they were quite vocal. If anyone needs directions, please e-mail me privately and I'll give my phone number so you can call for more explicit directions. I will go out again tomorrow to see if it is still there. Being one of the first to see the LeConte's Sparrow at Thickson's last week and now this. Wow, the spring birding game is afoot. Can't wait to see what I find at Pelee this weekend!

Reasonable birding throughout the park, though just eight species of warbler in total including one Blackburnian.

High Park is located south of Bloor St West and Queen Street West. Accessible near High Park subway.

Good birding!
