May2/04 Report Cool (many said cold!) temperatures and a steady rain until 2pm not only limited birds but also the number of birders looking. With nothing singing the few dedicated souls out looking today had to rely on their eyes alone. The Spice Bush Trail was the place to be with Summer Tanager and, White-eyed, Yellow-throated and Blue-headed Vireos all seen. Of the warblers, nine of the eleven seen today were seen on this trail with the Blue-winged Warbler being the best find. The other two warblers seen were a Hooded on Bennett Rd and a Louisiana Waterthrush at South Point. Year first was a Great Crested Flycatcher along Rondeau Road. The Friends of Rondeau are sponsoring two guided hikes daily until May 23rd.
