Just realized I neglected to include directions in my post:
Thickson's Woods is found at the south end of Thickson Road in Whitby. Turn
left onto the waterfront trail from Thickson's Road, and the woods are on
the south side.
Second Marsh: Exit from the 401 at the Harmony Rd. Exit (419) in Oshawa. Go
south on Farewell St. to Colonel Sam Drive. Go east on Colonel Sam Drive to
the parking lot at the GM Headquarters. Park in the west parking lot close
to the marsh. Both the Godwit and the Egret could be seen from the viewing
platform near (south and west of) the parking lot. The Egret was better
seen from the east end of the marsh. ie instead of turning right to the
viewing platform turn left and follow the path (about a 10 minute) walk
until you can once again view the marsh.
