Hi all!
At noon to-day I was more than a little surprised to find a male Prothonotary Warbler feeding along Gartshore Creek, just downstream from the footbridge. I had parked at the Rose Garden lot, and when I reached the bridge noted a flash of yellow under the cedars hanging on the bank of the creek. I observed the bird for about 2 minutes, debating whether to keep on it or go back to my car for the video camera(from now on it's going to be in my pocket). Out of breath after the fairly strenuous climb and quick return, I could not find the bird, but kept looking downstream and eventually refound it around the bend of the creek. This location is where a Gray Catbird was often seen this winter and last. It stayed on the far side of the creek and as I was shooting from the boardwalk the footage is a bit shaky but the bird is unmistakeable. It then flew over to the near side into heavy cover and I did not see it again, in the 10/15 minutes I stayed there. I drove on to Dundas marsh and walked the 'Willows' - where I saw 1 Yellow Warbler, 8/10 Yellow-rumped W., 5/6 Palm W.,1 Field Sparrow, 10/12 Cedar Waxwing,1 E. Bluebird and 1 E.Phoebe.
                                          Cheers! Maris

The Rose Garden parking lot is located on Plains Road on the right, just before RBG coming from Burlington. Follow the path down to the footbridge over Gartshore creek +/- 5 minute walk. It can also be accessed from Valley Inn area, but is probably a 15 minute walk.
