Hi birders,
Warblers have finally been trickling into Rondeau Provincial Park this past
week.
Yesterday,Steve Charbonneau and I watched a male Hooded Warbler on South
Point Trail. (this was near the beach area between the two benches)
Today was actually a little better. A Black-and -White Warbler was on Tulip
Tree Trail, and another on south point. Between the churches and
maintenance area I located a sizable flock of warblers. It contained about
30 Yellow-rumped, 1 N. Parula (very vocal), and 1 female Pine Warbler.
A single Palm Warbler (palmarum) was near the Marsh Trail parking lot.
After my posting last weekend of Pine Warblers, even more were evident on
Sunday. Probably at least 15 were seen among the birders present. Also, I
found an early Orange-crowned Warbler out the marsh trail. (Record early
for the park is April 13).
OFO field trip is next Saturday. Meet at Visitor Centre at 8 a.m.
