The warblers are coming. Between 9 and 10AM the sunny tops of cottonwood trees yielded some good birds in Thickson's Woods. Notables that were reported were several Pine Warblers, 2 Nashville Warblers, 1 Blue-headed Vireo, many Yellow-rumped Warblers & Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, and, at various spots throughout the woods--3 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, 2 Brown Thrashers, 1 Chipping Sparrow, 1 Veery, several Winter Wrens along with another 30 or more species of songbirds. Unconfirmed report of a Marsh Wren --Corbett's Creek area.
Thickson's Woods is accessed from Hy.401 at Thickson Rd. in southwest Whitby-- south to a road, north of the lakefront, that leads down along the north edge of the woodlot. Doug Lockrey, Whitby ON
