Saturday morning before The hail, rain and thunder storms arrived, a pair of
Peregrine Falcons scared the Bonaparte's and Little Gulls from the Oshawa
Second Marsh. Shortly after 7am the Peregrines dived bombed the resting
gulls. They cut one Bonaparte's gull from the flock and preceding to take
turns dive bombing it. After about 7 minutes the falcons learned that
Bonaparte's may appear slow in a straight flight, But a lone gull can out
maneuver 2 dive bombing falcons. The falcons returned to the Willows on the
barrier beach and preceded to copulate. At 9am the female Peregrine was
still perched in a willow on the barrier beach. All gulls species avoided
the marsh most of the morning. The several hundred waterfowl in the marsh
were oblivious to the Falcons

Directions: Exit from the 401 at the Harmony Rd. Exit (419) in Oshawa. Go
south on Farewell St. to Colonel Sam Drive. Go east on Colonel Sam Drive to
the parking lot at the GM Headquarters. Park in the west parking lot close
to the marsh. The east platform is located here.  To see the Lake Ontario
waterbirds proceed along the path from the parking lot south to the
lakeshore.
