A Common Snipe was seen momentarily by several birders as it flew over the filds to the west of Hall's Rd. in mid-AM of April 16. Juncos and Kinglets abound in Thickson's Woods, which also yielded Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Flicker, several Hermit Thrush, several Fox Sparrows, Brown Creepers, and, earlier in the morning a Yellow-rumped Warbler was noted.
With spring weather not too far along the north Cranberry Marsh platform should be a great spot to view the arrival of young Coots on the wetland. There are many species of ducks in the waters. I do not believe a Virginia Rail has been heard yet. Hall's Rd. is the first road east of Lakeridge, accessed from Victoria St. in southwest Whitby. Doug Lockrey, Whitby
