Hi Ontbirders,

While driving along Highways 9 and 404 today, I saw
some interesting birds.

First was a NORTHERN GOSHAWK displaying over the
woodlot on the south-east corner of Hwy 9 and the
Caledon-King Town Line Rd.

Further east, a NORTHERN SHRIKE was hunting along Hwy
9 at Showa Court.

On Hwy 404 at Stouffville Rd, a PEREGRINE FALCON flew
over the highway heading west.

The sites on Hwy. 9 are west of Hwy. 400.

Happy spring birding!

Today, April 7, at 10.45 am, after a wait of about half an hour, we saw the
TUFTED TITMOUSE come several times to the sunflower seed feeder hanging in
the cedars on the roadside of the house at 80 Havenwood Trail. While there
we also heard a Red-bellied Woodpecker in the distance.

We also saw an adult GOLDEN EAGLE flying westward, following Baseline Road.

Directions: Howe Island is east of Kingston. The ferry dock for Howe I. is
at the south end of the Joyceville Rd. The ferry fee is $1.50 each way. It
debarks at the north end of Howe Island Dr. Drive south and turn right onto
Baseline Rd. & turn left onto Good Friend Rd. which leads to Havenwood
Trail. There is also a ferry to Howe Island from Gananoque.
