Ont birders,

After reading about the Beamer hawk watch record
number of Rough-Legged Hawks yesterday, it got me
thinking.
Beamers total of Rough-Legged Hawks was 46 that is a
total from 9Am-4Pm ?? where as I also counted 46
Rough-legged Hawks over Dundas Olympic arena in just
two hours compared with seven at Beamer, my count was
between 10AM- 12. The day total from Beamer was 1650
between 9Am-4PM ?? where as the total over Dundas
between 10AM-12 was 1347 goodness knows how big it
would of been if I had stayed all day..
Also at Beamer there are normally several pairs of
eyes looking up where as I was on my own so I may well
have miss many Hawks. I am not able to go to Beamer
very often as I don't have transport but after
yesterdays comparisons I am not shure I need to. But
every one I have spoke to locally goes to Beamer to
watch Hawks.
My count yesterday could of been a once of event you
know the write wind direction Etc, but I will try it
again when I can to see if the Olympic Arena could
become a new Hawk watching spot. Just thought I would
mention it to the group as other people may not be
able to get to Beamer where as Dundas is easy to get
to.
  My results from yesterday

Yesterday there were 7 White-winged Crossbills and about 50 Common Redpolls
on the 12-13th Sideroad of Stayner, east of the 2nd Line.
This morning I have a Fox Sparrow in my garden in Concord. Yesterday
afternoon I had my first Flicker.
I am surprised that no one (as far as I've noticed) has yet reported a
White-crowned Sparrow.
