The owl was sitting on a dead mouse (rufous above, white below, the tail was two tone being dark above and a lighter underside.......deer mouse?) The Long-eared Owl was found in a pine plantation along Leitrim Road south of the Ottawa International Airport. Directions: Clyde Woods: (also known as Carlington Woods) From the 417 take Maitland south to Glenmount. East on Glenmount and then take the first left Castlehill. Take Castlehill to Clyde and park adjacent to the woods. Check cedar trees for owls. Leitrim Road Woods: From Hunt Club take Albion south to Leitrim. West on Leitrim. Just west of Bowesville is the pine plantation and a thick cedar woodlot. Both are good for Long-eared Owls. Chris Traynor 26 Crofton Road Ottawa, On K2G0N3 721-9197
