It was John's first visit to Beamer, but I hope not his last. I'm sure all of the other "regulars" enjoyed his company. Weather: A cool morning turned in to a nice warm day with moderate winds. The good time was ended by early afternoon rain. Temperature reached 8 degrees C under a cloudy sky. Observations: An absolutely wonderful day to be at Beamer with 4 Bald Eagles and a spectacular view of a Northern Goshawk. Coopers Hawks (15) and Sharp-shinned Hawks (20) were easily seen as were the 75 Turkey Vultures. Good views were had close to the tower and a zippy Merlin was well, if briefly seen by those on the tower. The first hour provided several flights of Canada Geese with one group numbering over 30 birds. Others were seen throughout the day. A Rusty Blackbird was investigating the feeders. Several Great Blue Herons were seen, including a flight of 3 birds heading west. A Common Loon flew right over the tower and there were at least two flights of Tundra Swans, one had at least 12 birds. A Greater Black-backed gull was observed as well as several Killdeer. =======================================================================Report submitted by Bill Brown ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Beamer Conservation Area, Grimsby, ON information may be found at: http://www.hwcn.org/link/niaghawk/index.html Beamer Conservation Area is located on top of the Niagara Escarpment above the town of Grimsby, Ontario.
