I think Screech-Owls should be atlassed inOct-Dec when they are setting up
territories and uttering the loud whinny.
At this time of year they are paired and for the most part just utter the
low tremolo. If there is any ambient noise or if they are at any distance
they may be responding but are very difficult to hear.

Yes, you will have to return especially for the Saw-whets. During the last
atlas many people had Saw-whets at this time of year but not later,. this is
close to the zenith of their spring massage.
