Today, (found at noon) there has been a White-fronted Goose at the Little Lake Cemetery. I would call it a Greater White-fronted Goose but to quote Don Sutherland " It appeared much smaller in size than the associated CAGOs, a few of which were Giant's (i.e., maxima), had bright orange legs and feet, a bright orange-pink bill, fairly restricted black scalloping on the belly and faint/fine white edging to the contour feathers. Probably safest to just call this bird a 'White-fronted Goose'. "
Directions: From the Parkway and Lansdowne St. (major east-west road with McDonalds etc) go east on Lansdowne then north on George (before the Memorial Centre). When George turns slightly, turn immediately right (east ) on Romaine. The turn is literally on the railway track and there is a Glass store on the corner. Go east on Romaine to the lake. Continue east on what is now Cresent Street. Proceed straight into the cemetery (I think the gates are unlocked around 7:30 am but by 8:00 am for sure). At the T-junction turn left and keep the lake on your left. The geese were on land when I saw them at the open part on the left hand side with the big boulder but by tomorrow they could be back in the water where Don found them or ..... I'll post if I find it tomorrow morning. Anne Anthony Peterborough "Anne Anthony" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Visit http://www.ofo.ca/ontbirdsguide.htm for information on leaving and joining the list.
