We were very interested to read Mike Boyd's report about a dead
Long-eared Owl recently found at Amherst Island. He wondered if a Great
Horned was its killer.

Yesterday (March 1) at approximately 1:30PM, while searching (no
luck)for a Snowy Owl that was reportedly seen on one of the buildings
at the former Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital (Kipling at Lakeshore Road
in Etobicoke), we also found a dead (mature) Long-eared Owl lying on
the lower branches of a spruce tree located close to the shore of Lake
Ontario and immediately south of the Col. Sam Smith parking lot. We now
wonder if this bird was killed by the Snowy.
