Hello.
Two years ago My estimate was 36 Pairs of TUFTED TITMICE in
the northern half of LAMBTON COUNTY. Since then they have kept on
multiplying. They must be filling some vacant niche.
For anyone who would still like to get a 'Lifer' or to get
stunning photos on sunflower seed filled outstretched hands -visit the
Pinery Provincial Park and either go to the Visitor center or go to Picnic
area # 9 and park near the first Cedars on the left. Look for tire
tracks. You might get three Chickadees at once or if you are very lucky,
a WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCH. Very soon these birds will become territorial
and stop visiting the feeding stations for most of the summer.
Also there is a pair of PILEATED WOODPECKERS that frequent
the HERITAGE TRAIL. The RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS in the vicinity of the
Maintenance Compound have not been seen for over a month.
Pinery park is situated on Highway 21 south of Grand Bend or north of
Forest. Entry Fee.
