I sent this out at noon today (Mon Feb 9) but haven't seen it come through
yet (now 1430). In an effort to get this message out in a timely matter I
am resending it. My apologies if it comes through twice.

Subject: Bohemian Waxwings Durham Region
Hello Birders
Mary Schuster and I made a quick run out today to look for the waxwings
reported on the Durham rare bird hotline yesterday. On Westney Road
between the 7th Concession and the 8th Concession we found a mixed flock
of 5 CEDAR WAXWINGS and 20 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS. We watched them for a few
minutes before they flew off to the west. Just north of the 8th
Concession, still on Westney Rd, we found a flock of 300 BOHEMIANS. The
closest house was 911 # 4605. We watched for about 20 minutes as they fed
on the road and in the trees, bushes and on the ground on both sides of
the road. Heading back south on the 12th line (one road west of Westney)
we found a mixed flock of about 5 CEDARS and 55 BOHEMIANS.
On the way home we made a brief stop at Hall's Road/Cranberry Marsh. While
checking the feeder at the north platform a flock of 28 COMMON REDPOLLS
came in. We didn't see any Snow Buntings in the brief time we spent there.
Directions:
Westney Road runs north from the 401 in Ajax. It becomes the Durham 6th
Concession.
Cranberry Marsh is at the foot of Hall's Road in Whitby, which runs south
from Victoria Street between Lakeridge Road and Brock Street.
Good Birding
