This Feb.5 AM along Hall's Rd. in southwest Whitby, ON, was bountiful at
times. Before noonhour there were as many as 1000 (yes, 1000) SNOW BUNTINGS
in the snowy field to the west of the roadway--they were relatively
quiescent; in spite of that any other species that we associate with them
could not be detected.
There has been a "resident" Rough-legged Hawk that shows up periodically,
usually just around noonhour.
Also today a few Common Redpolls were noted in the niger feeders, and a
"resident" White-crowned Sparrow, which I have missed for 3 or more weeks,
showed up.
At the north platform were the usual 2 Song Sparrows, a Swamp Sparrow and
many Tree Sparrows.
All other birds were as per my last report, except I could not locate the
Flicker. And, oh yes, a White-breasted Nuthatch showed up.

Hall's Rd. runs south from Bayly/Victoria , 1 block east of Lakeridge, in
southwest Whitby.

SUNDAY, FEB.8--0930 at the BRONTE RD. CARPOOL, just south of the QEW, if you
wish to join Alan Woods and me for a birding venture from Bronte to
Burlington; it is sponsored by the Pickering Naturalists--all invited; no
cost.
