The Pickering Naturalists Bird Feeder Tour had an entourage of 11 cars
wending from southwest Pickering up to Lakeridge and Conc.9 on this cold
snowy day of Jan.18. It went for 5 hours, and was followed by a number of us
going down to Hall's Rd. and Thickson's. HIGHLIGHTS- 150 Crows along sdln. 4
north of Conc.8, north of which were 3 very colourful R-n Pheasants; N.
Flicker at 3525 Audley Rd., female Purple Finch and White-throated Sparrow
at the Pegg's residence on Conc.7; 20 Snow Buntings along Conc.8 west of
sdln.6 ; adult Bald Eagle at 1230 over Cranberry Marsh, Brown Creeper in
Thickson's, and an immature Bald Eagle at Rotary Park in Ajax. I learned
from 2 others that the "resident" Red-bellied Woodpecker was at the feeder
in the early afternoon behind the house at 3378 Westney Rd., south of
Greenwood village.
