I was gazing out my back patio door at my feeders, thinking I'd better
get out there and fill them up, when I spotted an odd looking bird
landing in the top of one of the tall trees. I proved to be a Northern
Shrike! Haven't seen one of those in the area for several years. I
watched it for a minute or so as it flew to another tree top, then flew
west toward a small dried up wet land next door. I lost sight of it
after that.

I live at 1881 Gilford Rd., approx. 1 mile east of Yonge St., south side
of the road. The wetland is west of my residence, at the end of a small
orchard.
Gilford Rd. can be reached by traveling Cty Rd 89 east from Hwy 400 to
Yonge St. (traffic lights) then turn south to the next road, which is
Gilford Rd. Travel east on Gilford Rd. until you see the Go Kart track
on your left. The 'wetland' is directly across the road from there.

Happy birding in 2004!!
