From: "Dave & Carol Skinner" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> The Strathroy CBC was held on Monday, December 22nd. The weather was quite mild. It was mostly overcast with occasional sunny breaks, somewhat breezy, with a high of 5 C. 19 field participants and 5 feeder watchers tallied 25,819 birds, 56 species.
There were 4 new species for the count: Green-winged Teal - 1 Ruddy Duck - 2 Red-shouldered Hawk - 1 Common Yellowthroat - 1 There were 22 record highs: Canada Goose - 2432 Sharp-shinned Hawk - 9 Red-tailed Hawk - 77 Rough-legged Hawk - 45 >Rock Pigeon - 396 Eastern Screech-Owl - 28 Red-bellied Woodpecker - 49 Downy Woodpecker - 112 Hairy Woodpecker - 35 Northern Flicker - 12 American Crow - 9240 Black-capped Chickadee - 473 Red-breasted Nuthatch - 62 White-breasted Nuthatch - 118 Carolina Wren - 5 Winter Wren - 5 Cedar Waxwings - 35 American Tree Sparrow - 792 White-throated Sparrow - 30 Red-winged Blackbird - 2 Purple Finch - 6 American Goldfinch - 389 There was also a Tufted Titmouse on count week.
