Thanks to Mark, for the reminder to post the locations of CBC birds which may be of interest to winter listers. Here are the directions for the Ruby-crowned Kinglet which was seen on Sunday Dec. 22 during the Toronto CBC. It was in a location where we had previously had a CBC count Orange-crowned Warbler which was present for several weeks after the count.
>From Royal York Rd. north of Bloor St. or south of Eglinton Ave. West turn east on to Edenbridge Dr. Park at the entrance to James Gardens and walk east to the paved path. Walk north on the path past the lawn bowling area and cross over the metal arched bridge. As you walk north you will pass a park bench on your left (west), continue walking north to the second park bench. Walk west from her to the edge of the ravine slope. There is a "marshy" area here and the bird was slightly west of it below a house with rusty red siding on the top story. The bird was very active and at one point flew into a spruce tree just north of the house. Other times it remained quite low in the weeds. Good luck and Merry Christmas to everyone.
