Hello,

This afternoon I went to Clyde Woods in Ottawa to try and relocate the
Northern Saw-whet Owl that I had found on the Ottawa CBC. While doing a
slow search of the woods I discovered a Long-eared Owl (rare in Ottawa
in the winter) fairly high up in a cedar tree. Several branches above
the owls head was an American Robin calling rather vociferously. The
owl ignored it. After a good hour of thorough searching I located the
saw-whet owl in a cedar in the thickest thorniest part of the woods.

Directions to Clyde Woods. From the 417 in Ottawa exit Maitland south.
Maitland south to Glenmount. East on Glenmount and take the first left
Castlehill. Castlehill to Clyde and park adjacent to the woods. The
saw-whet has been difficult to find on both occasions and will likely
require a meticulous search.
