Dear Ontbirders,

Today, 18 December, Kevin McLaughlin and I birded the Niagara River. Here are the highlights:

Another adult California Gull on the breakwall at Chippawa below the control gates. It has more red on the bill than the one at Sir Adam Beck.

California Gull at Sir Adam Beck in the afternoon flying and standing in its usual spot beside the Robert Moses Dam.

Mew Gull at Sir Adam Beck morning and afternoon, flying then perched on the rocks on the American side opposite the crane (not a bird) in the small lookout on the Canadian side.

Three Purple Sandpipers above the Falls.

Black-headed Gull at Queenston, past the waterfall on the American side. Walk the trail from the upper parking lot at the Queenston boat launch towards the Queenston bridge.

Happy birding,
