On Sunday 23 Nov there was a flock of 34 Bonaparts Gull on the SE cell of the Winchester Lagoon. This is the 3rd fall in a row that a large (for Ottawa) flock has occured at this site. The birds formed a tight flock actively feeding along the ice edge in the partially frozen pond. There were also two Greater Yellowlegs in the same cell. Other birds in the area included a flock of about 40 Lapland Longspur.

Also yesterday, a lone Common Redpoll joined the American Goldfinches in my suburban Ottawa backyard, perhaps an indication of more to come.

Winchester is located off Highway 31 south of Ottawa. To get to the lagoons take Ottawa road north out of town, the lagoons are easy to see on your right just after the road bends to the east.
