The abundance and variety of waterfowl species on
Fanshawe continues to increase. Today (Nov. 15), I
observed HOODED MERGANSER, RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, and
COMMON GOLDENEYE. COMMON MERGANSERS and BUFFLEHEADS
were present last week, and could still be mixed in
with the 1000+ MALLARDs. An adult BALD EAGLE
continues to be seen along the north end of the lake.
Today, the bird was sitting close to its nest, which
is located near a point on the northeast shore of the
lake.
