AMHERST I. [page 36, quad E54 & E55]

Nov. 2 a team of KFN birders at the KFN Property saw 1 RED-THROATED LOON, 30
BRANT, 1 KILLDEER, 8 GR. YELLOWLEGS, 4 PECTORAL and 8 WHITE-RUMPED
SANDPIPERS, 200 DUNLIN, 5 WILSON'S SNIPE & a BELTED KINGFISHER. Lots of
VOLES in the Owl Woods! Owls seen were: GREAT HORNED, SAW-WHET & LONG-EARED.
Sparrows included: FOX, SAVANNAH and TREE. Another party found a BLUE-WINGED
TEAL and a CANVASBACK.

Nov. 5 at the KFN Property, Ken Edwards had a late SPOTTED SANDPIPER and a
PURPLE SANDPIPER flying past.

Nov. 7 Joel Ellis and others at the KFN Property, found a GREAT EGRET.

DIRECTIONS: The ferry to Amherst I. leaves from a dock at the western side
of Millhaven. It is reached from the 401 by taking exit 593 south to
Millhaven. Jog right about 100 m. On Hwy 33 to the dock. The ferry fare is
$5.00 Cdn return. The earliest ferry leaves @ 6:20 a.m. The next is 7:30
a.m. and thereafter hourly. The KFN property is to the east of Lower Road. A
stile over the fence at the south end of Lower Rd. allows access to the path
along the east lake shore and to the berms containing the ponds. The gravel
bar is farther north.


PRINCE EDWARD POINT [page 35, quads G53, 53]

Nov. 1, A group of Birders from Brighton were fortunate to see a Rare BLACK
VULTURE in the late morning at the Banding Station. A team of KFN Birders
found a BALD EAGLE, a GOSHAWK and a MERLIN, SANDERLINGS, an E. SCREECH OWL
and a SHORT-EARED OWL, a late LINCLON'S SPARROW and a very late
BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER.

Nov. 2,: a team of KFN Birders found a Rare PACIFIC LOON and a late
BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO and a BROWN THRASHER and an E. PHOEBE. There were many
COMMON and few RED-THROATED LOON. HORNED & RED-NECKED GREBE. Another team
heard a very late UPLAND SANDPIPER from the Babylon Rd.

.Nov. 8, at the Point with NW winds and clear skies: 5 KFN birders tallied
Hawks: about 40 RED-TAILED, a ROUGH-LEGGED, 2 RED-SHOULDERED, 2 N. HARRIER,
2 SHARP-SHINNED, 4 GOSHAWK, a lone COOPER'S and a N. SHRIKE were by Babylon
Rd.

WOLFE ISLAND [Page36, Quads E56 & 57]

Nov. 2, a team of KFN Birders found a GOLDEN PLOVER among a group of about
20 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER. 30 WILD TURKEY were in a field near the south end
of Base Line Rd., 30 TUNDRA SWANS in Button Bay and by Carpenter Point Rd.

At Cartwright Point on Nov. 7 A CAROLINA WREN was calling and a RED-BELLIED
WOODPECKER was at our feeders @ 14 The Point Rd. Directions: MapArt Ont. Rd.
