Tys Theysmeyer of Royal Botanical Gardens had an American White Pelican fly over the west end of Cootes Paradise earlier this morning. He doesn't know if it is still in the area.
The west end of Cootes is accessible from Cootes Drive between Hamilton and Dundas. Park on the pull-off on the south (east-bound) side of Cootes Drive at Spencer Creek. Alternatively, the bird could be visible from the Marsh Boardwalk on the n. shore of Cootes. Park at the Nature Interpretive Centre in the Arboretum, off Old Guelph Rd.
