Our recent posting incorrectly indicated that there is
public access to the Trail Rd landfill in Nepean (Ottawa).
The landfill can be viewed FROM Trail Rd. and FROM Cambrian Rd.
but there is NO public access into the dump itself.
The report yesterday was ... "An adult winter SLATY-BACKED GULL
reported on November 2, from Bankfield Rd in the fields east of
highway 416, was searched for but not relocated on the 3rd, but is
still worth looking for, especially in the Trail Rd landfill and
the fields nearby.
Formal directions ...
(Trail Rd.) From the intersection of Highways 417 and 416, go
south on 416 to Fallowfield Road (exit #66). Go west on Fallowfield
to Moodie Drive, turn left onto Moodie Drive, follow Moodie south
for approximately 4 km, and watch for the intersection with Cambrian
Road. Turn left at Cambrian, then keep right onto Trail Road.
Follow Trail Road to the Nepean landfill site which is only a short
distance up the road. (There are signs for the landfill site as far
back as Moodie and Fallowfield.)
(Bankfield Rd. from Moodie) From the intersection of Highways 417 and
416, go south on 416 to Fallowfield Road (exit #66). Go west on
Fallowfield to Moodie Drive, turn left onto Moodie Drive, follow Moodie
south for approximately 4 km, and watch for the intersection with
Cambrian Road. Continue on Moodie, Bankfield is two more intersections.
(Bankfield Rd. from Highway 416) From the intersection of Highways 417
and 416, go south on 416 to Bankfield Road (exit #57).
