Owl Woods 12 LONG-EARED OWLS, 1 FOX SPARROW, 2 YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS and a PICKEREL FROG. Also, 1 NORTHERN SHRIKE and a VESPER SPARROW on the 2nd. Concession Road and a flock of 500 RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS on the northeast corner of the 3rd. Concession and the Emerald Road. Raptors are all over the island including RED-TAILED HAWK, ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, AMERICAN KESTREL and NORTHERN HARRIER. Exit off the 401 at exit 593 and drive south on County Road 4 to the very end (Millhaven). Turn right on hwy. 33 and drive 100 m. until you see the sign to the Amherst Island ferry. The ferry leaves the mainland on the half hour and leaves the island on the hour. Cost is $5.00 round trip. There are no gas stations on the island. There are restrooms on the ferry, but not on the island. The K.F.N. property is at the easternmost part of the island. The Owl Woods is at the midway point of the seasonal road located 3.4 km. east from the general store.
