Hi Folks,

A male European Goldfinch was observed yesterday (October 26, 2003) feeding
on nyger seed in amongst numerous American Goldfinch, at two nearby
residences (122 Princess Cr. and 39 Pleasant Dr.) in Sault Ste. Marie.

Just a note, to those tracking finch, grosbeak and crossbill
movements...Common Redpoll and Pine Grosbeak are showing up in the Sault
area after a long absence and good numbers of American Goldfinch, Pine
Siskin and Evening Grosbeak are regularly being observed. Purple Finch, Red
Crossbill and White-winged Crossbill are around but are being observed less
regularly and in smaller numbers.

In the last two weeks Lapland Longspur, Water Pipit and Horned Lark numbers
diminished significantly. Snow Bunting, on the other hand, have been
observed in large numbers all across Algoma.
