A sunny warm day at Cootes Paradise.
No Sharp-tailed Sparrows, but a LONG-BILLED DOWITCHER appeared alone at the
western end of Cootes Paradise.
Then a juv. BALD EAGLE flew over.
A little later from the flats in front of the willows there was a small but
interesting group of shorebirds: the HUDSONIAN GODWIT was still there, with
5 DUNLIN, one PECTORAL SANDPIPER, one KILLDEER, and 2 LESSER YELLOWLEGS.
Lots of SWAMP SPARROWS and waterfowl. A few BONAPARTE'S GULLS among the
Ring-bills.
To get there from TO take second Main Street exit from 403, to Main
Street;turn left, go past McMaster to Cootes Drive. Turn right, go past the
bridge to the first lights; turn around there , go back on Cootes Drive and
park just before the bridge. Hop over the railing on the other side and
follow the trail over a small bridge and past the tower.
Cheers.
