On Saturday Oct 11 We did the 5th annual Severn Sound pelagic to close a
cottage on Giant's Tomb Island.

The path was from Penetanguishene to North end of Giant's Tomb Island and
the out into Georgian Bay towards the Watcher Islands and returning
approximately the same route.

Highlights:
1 Imm. Parasitic Jaeger approximately 2km east of the South Watcher Island.
1 Jaeger Sp.  at Fraser Bank harassing gulls.
70+ Red-Necked Grebes scattered in small groups throughout the area.
50+ Common loons
3 Horned Grebes
1 Caspian Tern
1 Double-crested Cormorant (low)
Small numbers of Bonaparte's Gulls.

Giant's Tomb Island
1 Chestnut-sided Warbler
1 Palm Warbler
1 Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow
Several American Pipits and Horned Larks
5 Evening Grosbeaks migrating south.
6 Common Ravens, 2 were seen heading south off the island towards the Simcoe
County mainland
With a slight east wind raptors were using Giant's tomb island as a shortcut
around Severn Sound. Species seen include Merlin, Sharp-shinned Hawks,
Red-tailed Hawk and many Turkey Vultures.

Saturday evening at the south end of Hog's Bay at the Hwy 12 rest stop
between Victoria Harbour and Port McNicholl.
9 Trumpeter Swans
20 Wood Ducks
Small numbers of Gadwall, Mallard, Green-winged Teal, Lesser Scaup,American
Coots, and Pied-billed Grebes
9 Rusty Blackbirds
