It was the first full day of Fall and it certainly felt like it with a definite autumn chill in the breeze. Observations: The flight was steady throughout the day with some remnant Broad-wing kettles from Sundays movement. Many of the birds were buffeted by the stiff west wind losing altitude as they crossed the count area. One kettle in particular in mid afternoon dropped down over us very low. Very impressive watching 500 Broad-wings pass 200 feet over your head and then kettle up in a swirling mass. Another highlight of the day was a Merlin that circled low overhead to give us crushing views for several minutes much to our appreciation. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Calvin Brennan ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.smrr.net/ The primary site used by Southeastern Michigan Raptor Research (SMRR) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
