Hi Ontbirders:

The Ontario Field Ornithologists Annual Convention this weekend at
Leamington produced interesting birding, good weather, and a great program
and banquet for the more than 175 participants.

A preliminary list of about 150 species has been tallied for the weekend
field trips. Highlights included:

Willet: one in Sturgeon Creek Marsh, behind Pelee Motor Inn (Days Inn), on
Saturday and Sunday.

Buff-breasted Sandpiper: six in onion fields on the north side of the
easternmost portion of Concession D. These birds were observed early Sunday
morning, but could not be found by noon that day.

Long-billed Dowitcher: one in Sturgeon Creek Marsh, behind Days Inn, on
Sunday.

Red-necked Phalarope: one at Harrow Sewage Lagoons on Sunday. PLEASE NOTE
THAT SPECIAL PERMISSION TO VISIT THIS ACTIVE WORK SITE WAS OBTAINED FOR THE
CONVENTION.

Dickcissel: one heard flying over at Seacliff, and one perched among thick
foliage SE of the washroom at The Tip in Point Pelee National Park, on
Saturday morning.

Directions:
Information on locating all sites mentioned above may be obtained at the
Point Pelee National Park Visitor Centre. Leamington, Harrow, and the park
are in Essex County, southeast of Windsor.
