Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 9 hours

Official Counter: Calvin Brennan

Observers: Chuck Owens, Dave Mendus, Jeff Schultz, Mary Cypher

Weather:
Today was a mainly sunny day with some cumulous build up at midday, which
unfortunately dissipated as the day went on. Winds were light from the
west during the morning switching to moderate southwest and finally
moderate southeast by late afternoon.

Observations:
Although not a huge flight, the day brought the largest Broad-wing flight
recorded for the season. Many of the early kettles were against cloud but
became increasingly hard to find once those disappeared. The shift in the
wind to the southeast later in the day pushed kettles well to the north
including the largest grouping of the day, numbering about 4,000 birds.
Included in one of the early bunches of Broad-wings was a leucistic
individual. Also of note was the considerable Turkey Vulture flight. We
are surely having a record September in regards to that species.
