Since nobody reported this, I thought I should provide an update on our jaeger watching at Van Wagner's Beach on Sunday, 7 September.
I arrived at 8:45 a.m. and stayed until 2:45 p.m. During this time, the following were seen: 9:41 - 1 Parasitic Jaeger (age undetermined) 11:06 - 1 adult Pomarine Jaeger 11:45 - 1 adult and 2 juvenile Parasitic Jaegers 1:41 - 1 Peregrine Falcon There was some debate as to the identity of the Pomarine, but most birders present agreed that the identification was correct. The moderate southwest winds made for a relatively quiet day of 'pelagic' birding, but it sure made it a pleasant day of bird and people watching. Van Wagner's Beach is at the west end of Lake Ontario in Hamilton. From the north, on the QEW, take Exit 88 and go north (under the QEW) to the lights, where you will turn left (west) along Beach Blvd. There are signs to the beach. Park at Hutch's Fish and Chip Restaurant, which is on the right hand (east) side of the boulevard. ********** Burke Korol Huntsville, ON [EMAIL PROTECTED] "Burke Korol" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Visit http://www.ofo.ca/ontbirdsguide.htm for information on leaving and joining the list.
