Ontbirders
After vanishing yesterday afternoon, the Western Sandpiper was seen this
morning on the north side of the last look-out on the Owen Point Trail.
Sightings had to be squeezed in between frequent falcon forays which
constantly scattered the shorebirds. Among 18 or 19 species present were up
to 20 Short-billed Dowitchers, 2 Stilt Sandpipers and 6 Red Knots. Much of
the viewing is at very close range.
Directions to Presqu'ile are well signed south of Brighton. Access to the
Owen Point Trail is signed off the park's main road.
