Hello Ontbirders
Today, August 24th, I birded the Shirley's Bay area from 6:45am to
10:30am. Overall it was rather quiet along the dyke with few shorebirds
but more mudflats. An American Bittern was observed hunting along the
edge of the cattails and a Merlin was present. There was an increase in
songbird activity with a Blue-gray Gnatcatcher and 13 species of
warblers including Cape May, Northern Parula, Tennessee, Blackpoll,
Nashville, Canada and Black-throated Green. Most of the warblers and the
gnatcatcher were near the corner of Lois Ave. and Rifle Road.
                                        good birding
                                            Bruce
