At 3:00pm, Thursday, August 7th, 2003, this is the
Hamilton Naturalists' Club Birding Hotline Report. The
Hotline is normally revised on Thursday, unless an
unusual bird turns up in the Hamilton area.

Thanks to Mike Street for bringing my attention to
Project Nighthawk, which monitors the migration of
Common Nighthawks from mid-August to the beginning of
September. If you'd like more details about how to
participate in Project Nighthawk, please contact the
Hotline via e-mail or telephone.

More shorebird reports this week. A WILLETT was
spotted at the Grimsby Sewage Lagoons, while 11
species of shorebirds were reported from the Townsend
Sewage Lagoons, including SEMI-PALMATED PLOVER,
KILLDEER, LESSER YELLOWLEGS, SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPER,
LEAST SANDPIPER, PECTORAL SANDPIPER, SPOTTED
SANDPIPER, SOLITARY SANDPIPER, STILT SANDPIPER, RUDDY
TURNSTONE and WILSON'S SNIPE.

Other local reports include OSPREYS at Valley Inn and
over the High Level Bridge, SORA RAIL at Courtcliff
Park, HOODED WARBLER, LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH, TUFTED
TITMOUSE and BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO on the North Shore
Trails at the RBG, as well as a possible EURASIAN
COLLARED DOVE on the Burlington lakeshore.
