The mid-AM hours brought some good birding and entertainment for a number of birding enthusiasts on Sunday Aug.3 at the pool in front of the long warehouse on Victoria St. While I was there the list included-- 1 S-b Dowitcher, 1 Stilt Sandpiper, several Lesser Yellowlegs, 2 Greater Yellowlegs, 1 PECTORAL SANDPIPER, 1 Spotted Sandpiper, several Semi-palmated Plovers, several Semi-palmated Sandpipers, several Least Sandpipers, 1 Great Black-backed Gull, Blue-winged Teals and Mallards, 3 Caspian Terns.
Directions--exit from the 401 at Harwood in Ajax or Brock St. in Whitby, along Bayly/Victoria to the first or second street west of the Iroquois Sports Complex in southwest Whitby; north to the road that runs along in front of the long Sobey's warehouse. The body of water is on the south side of this roadway--you can literally bird from your car.
