Inspite of off-and-on rain on July 27 3 of us thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of a hidden marsh at the south end of Cranberry Marsh. While observing and identifying the flora we were aware of singing of birds (Virginia Rail, Coot, Marsh Wren, Swamp Sparrow et al) and over a period of 30 minutes we viewed 5 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT HERONS and small families of several species of waterfowl--Coot, Moorhen, Ruddy Duck, Mute Swan, Mallard and Gadwall among others. .

A visit to Cranberry's west side (from Hall's Rd.pathway entries) will allow you to appreciate a small marsh in front of the north platform, then a non-marsah wetland in front of the south platform.
