Ontbirders This morning the Presqu'ile beach offered the best shorebirding so far of this year's apparently early southbound movement. Birds stretched from the viewing station (located at the former beach 4) northwards along algae-rich shores until at least beach 3. Most birds were post-breeding adults and included at least 20 each of Lesser Yellowlegs and Least Sandpipers, a few Semipalmated Sandpipers, 3 Short-billed Dowitchers, a Pectoral Sandpiper (juvenile) and numerous resident Killdeers and Spotted Sandpipers. The way to Presqu'ile is well signed south of Brighton.
