Paul and others,

There is no blanket "rule" to follow here, since it depends very much on
what species you are talking about. Magnolia Warbler can be a very LATE
spring migrant, and this was very pronounced this year. If you
encountered the species up to and including about June10-15th, but not
recorded thereafter, they should all be considered spring migrants and
deleted from your atlas cards. American Redstart can also be an
extremely late spring migrant, and I bet many atlassers encountered the
species in early to mid-June -- and probably most were immature males --
that were almost certainly late spring migrants.

On the other hand, Black-throated Greens have been singing on territory
in many locations in central Halton County, for example, and are
obviously on territory.

Hope this helps.
