This past weekend our little group introduced two new birders to the thrill of birdwatching. Among the numerous birds seen were- Sat.June 7-Redstarts, Indigo Bunting, Eastern Bluebird on the Forty Hills Rd., a Northern Mockingbird on the Dyer's Bay Rd., and the Highlight of the day- Sora and Virginia Rails in the marsh on the Isaac Lake Rd. Sun. June 8-a Spruce Grouse on the Forty Hills Rd., and Black Terns, a Pied Billed Grebe and a Wood Duck in reeds of Skye Lake off Red Bay Rd. It was also nice to see the nesting pair of Osprey back at Oliphant.
