This afternoon two GREAT EGRETS have been seen beside Graham Creek at Port of Newcastle. Within 3 feet of each other, they have been preening high in a dead tree just north of the Marina. They have also been seen wading in the retention pond off Carveth Crescent. Best vantage point is the south end of the path running behind the bungalows on Carveth (terminating at the retention pond). One Great Egret was seen in this spot last month. We'll be keeping a close eye out for breeding activity.
